Planning Meeting for the 2004 Atmospheric Research Campaign
    Meeting Date: April 23-24, 2003
Online Registration Form - Please register by April 1, 2003

The summer of 2004 is shaping up to be a particularly interesting period for those of us involved in atmospheric research. A number of research groups in North America and Europe have scheduled intensives for the July/August time period with plans for surface sites, instrumented aircraft, and an instrumented ship. These groups will be getting together April 23-24, 2003 at the University of New Hampshire to discuss plans and explore areas for collaboration and integration. The research groups planning intensive measurement campaigns include:
    • The AIRMAP consortium at the University of New Hampshire will be enhancing its research network in New Hampshire and Maine.

    • NASA will be flying two aircraft in the Northeastern U.S. under the INTEX-NA banner.

    • NOAA will operate two aircraft and a ship, also in the Northeast, in a combined air quality/climate study.

    • COBRA (Harvard University and associates) group will be using an instrumented aircraft to measure CO2 fluxes.

    • DOE will conduct aircraft studies of air quality in the northeastern U.S.

    • University of Maryland will conduct aircraft studies of air quality in the northeastern U.S.

    • Meteorological Service of Canada is considering instrumented aircraft flights out of Nova Scotia and/or ground-based studies in Nova Scotia or Québec.

    • European Researchers (U.K., Germany, and France) are planning aircraft campaigns over the Atlantic and Europe to coincide with those in North America.
A detailed agenda will be circulated prior to the meeting. Please submit the Online Registration Form by April 1, 2003 if you plan on attending the meeting. We will also include your name on the list to receive future information regarding this meeting.

    Logistical Details

    Flying:
There are 3 choices of airports to fly into: Boston, MA; Manchester, NH; or Portland, ME. Boston (Logan) will have the greatest availability of flights. Manchester is probably the easiest.

    Driving:
If you are somewhat local and plan on driving to the meeting we are working on a place for you to park. Please make a note on the registration if you are going to be attending the meeting daily so we can be assured to reserve enough parking spaces.
